Project Overview
Crown supports Federal Aviation Administration modernization of surveillance and weather radar through logistics management and system safety engineering.
Our teams work closely with Telephonics to deploy the FAA’s Common Terminal Digitizer (CTD) Radar System as part of the agency’s Systems Life Extension Program (SLEP).
CTD extends the useful life of primary and secondary surveillance radar systems, enhancing their performance in small target detection and weather processing. The FAA SLEP upgrades ASR-8, ATCBI-5 and MODE-S radar systems.
Crown supports FAA with logistics management and system safety engineering.
Our logistics management services include:
- Integrated logistics – developing the integrated support plan and executing the plan through performing ILS management for the entire CTD system.
- Technical manual and document development – creating technical instruction manuals that describe receiver replacements for ARSR-8, ATCBI-5 and MODE-S IBI, test equipment and material lists, software design documents, product specification, and version and test descriptions.
- Training course development and conduct – developing training plans and curriculum and providing instruction for technical operations users, depot personnel engaged in test and repair, and second-level engineering personnel engaged in software/firmware maintenance and upgrade.
- Depot-level logistics – providing 24/7/365 help-desk service with request-response ticketing, tracking and priority response protocols for interim contractor depot-level support, as well as development of depot test procedures, and logistics support transition plans and schedules.
Our system safety engineering services include:
- Hazard Analysis – Identification and analysis of all hazards, including developing the system safety plan and performing fault tree analysis.
- Safety Panel Participation – working collaboratively with Air Traffic and other stakeholders to address hazards and safety measures for the System Safety Assessment Report.
