ARLINGTON, VA – Crown Consulting Inc. congratulates DroneUp, an industry leader and innovator in last-mile drone-delivery services, on obtaining its Part 119 air carrier certification for operations under the FAA’s part 135 Certification, which will enable the company to make everyday customer deliveries by drone as an operating air carrier.
Crown provided regulatory, environmental, strategy, and certification services to DroneUp in its efforts to obtain the critical FAA clearance. The Part 135 Certificate enables DroneUp to operate as a commercial air carrier and transport third-party goods Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) and over populated areas, critical for its ongoing operations across the Dallas/Fort Worth area and beyond.
“The Part 135 certification process and environmental requirements in particular are complicated with a number of moving parts,” said DroneUp Chief Operating Officer Anthony Vittone. “We are very grateful for the support and guidance Crown provided DroneUp in our certification process. They were very helpful in DroneUp achieving Part 135.”
Crown Senior Policy Advisor Clifford Sweatte led Crown’s advisory and program management effort with DroneUp on the Part 135 certification.
“Rules and regulations are constantly changing in the landscape of uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) and other advanced aviation technology,” Sweatte said. “Crown’s compliance team includes former FAA leaders and regulatory experts, who are working with regulators to continue to advance and improve the air carrier certification processes.”
In addition to commercial pilots (Part 121 and 135) Crown also has Part 107 remote pilots and is working closely with industry in preparation for the pending Part 108 ruling, and scaling drone operations.
The long-awaited FAA Part 108 rule will provide guidance and regulations to operate BVLOS. Clear guidance for drone operators has the potential to create new companies and new business models, while also providing clean, safe and efficient advanced air mobility services.
