Al Khan has guided Crown’s leadership position in air traffic control and traffic management systems since founding the company in 1989. His knowledge and expertise led Crown’s early work with Federal Aviation Administration exploring the use of GPS and collaborative decision-making technologies in air traffic management.
Today, his leadership propels Crown in its work with the FAA, NASA and other clients to advance air transportation’s new frontier – integrating unmanned aircraft system technologies into the National Airspace System.
Khan’s growth strategy emphasizes investing in Crown’s analytic and human capital infrastructure, investments essential to serving markets with highly dynamic technology challenges. Investments in simulation, analytical and subject matter expert capabilities position Crown to capture growing markets in airport and airspace planning and advanced air mobility (AAM).
Reflecting Mr. Khan’s leadership, the Air Traffic Control Association twice named Crown its Small Business of the Year, the Washington Post voted Crown a Top D.C. Workplace in 2019, and Computer Week honored him with the Fed-100 Award as a top federal government information technology executive.
